Ranking methodology

Every BestAIToolix ranking is produced by a published, versioned methodology for one specific category. Scores are never comparable across categories, never sold, and never influenced by commercial relationships (P-01, P-04).

How a ranking is built

  1. Each category defines 12 ranking factors with weights that sum to exactly 100%.
  2. Each factor score (0–100) is assessed from evidence — vendor docs, independent tests, benchmarks, regulatory records, or verified user reviews.
  3. Unknown data is never treated as a zero. Unassessed factors are excluded from the score and reduce evidence coverage instead (P-02).
  4. Quality score and evidence confidence are reported separately (P-03): a tool can score 94/100 and still be labelled provisional because confidence is low.
  5. Tools below 50% coverage are unranked; below 80% coverage or 65% confidence they are provisional. Only sufficiently evidenced tools get an established rank.
  6. Snapshots are frozen with an input hash — a published ranking is immutable and reproducible (P-07).

Commercial independence

Sponsorships, advertising, affiliate relationships, and vendor subscriptions have no input to any ranking calculation, factor score, or search quality score. Paid placements, if ever introduced, will be separately rendered and disclosed (§48.2). Commercial relationships that touch a tool are published on its profile as disclosures. Vendors can propose factual corrections, but never editorial conclusions, review content, or ranking weights.
